Customizing shoes is a process, if you dont follow that process your shoes & artwork are not wearable.
The one thing i really learned over the past 11 years of customizing shoes is that a process is needed in creating, and if these steps aren't followed your artwork will fall apart after a few wears. I am gonna go into each individual step in more detail in following blog posts but please note, customizing shoes is not just paint and a brush. if you want to hang your shoes on a wall, then go for it, if you want to be able to wear your shoes or have your customer wear your shoes without the artwork coming over after there first wear follow these steps.
PREP WORK - most important step probably in customizing gym shoes.
Art - when painting your shoes, before starting, look at the shoe, think about the parts that bend the more when you wear them. and try to avoid those areas.
Sealing/protection - very important, when your paintwork is completed and dry, protecting it with sealants to make the paint scratch proof, water proof, etc.
